
Lori Coates-Hay
Associate Lori Coates-Hay joined Bauckham Sparks in 2014, bringing a background in labor law as well as in criminal prosecution for Charlevoix and Washtenaw Counties. She is also a former member of the Resort Township Planning Commission and previous Executive Director of the Bay Harbor Foundation in Emmet County.
Before receiving her law degree from DePaul University College of Law, Lori earned two bachelor's degrees from Michigan State University. On more personal notes, she has also achieved a black belt in tae kwon do and enjoys being outdoors walking the dog and gardening.
Municipal Practice Focus
Lori helps municipal clients with a variety of issues, including criminal ordinance prosecutions, ordinance, ballot, and Inter-local agreement drafting, FOIA matters, real estate issues such as condemnation and easements, single hauler Issues, and 218 Agreement matters.
Instructor & Contributor
Lori has been an instructor for the Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan, the Washtenaw Community College Police Academy, and other organizations. She also serves as an instructor at the firm's municipal client seminars and contributes to Planning & Zoning News.
