BSLTS attorneys spoke at the Michigan Townships Association’s 2012 Educational Conference held January 24th through January 27th in Detroit. BSLTS Attorneys were in daily attendance at the conference and presented several seminars for MTA members and conference attendees
Tuesday, January 24, 2012 – Attorney Ken Sparks served as the coordinator for MTA’s Legal Institute for Township Attorneys.
Wednesday, January 25, 2012 – Attorney Ken Sparks participated in a panel discussion “Ask the Township Experts.”
Attorney John Lohrstorfer gave a presentation entitled “Cost Recovery for Emergency Services.”
Thursday, January 26, 2012 – Attorney Ken Sparks presented “Gone to Pot: An Update on the Michigan Medical Marihuana Act.”
Attorney Catherine Kaufman presented “Mineral Extraction in the Aftermath of PA 113.”
Attorney Roxanne Seeber discussed ordinance enforcement issues in the seminar entitled, “Taking the Next Step in Ordinance Enforcment – Issuing the Citation.”
Attorney Rob Thall presented “Recognizing Conflicts of Interest.”

Attorney John Lohrstorfer served as a panelist for a presentation by the Cass County Medical Marihuana Working Group, at the MTA Supervisors’ Professional Development Retreat in Cadillac.
Attorneys Rob Thall and John Lohsrtorfer presented Top Ten Legal Pitfalls at the MTA Professional Development Retreat in Cadillac.

Attorneys Roxanne Seeber and Catherine Kaufman, along with Zoning Administrator Doug Kuhlman, presented a day long seminar entitled “Writing, Adopting and Enforcing Ordinances.” The seminar was sponsored by the Michigan Townships Association and was presented in both Gaylord and Lansing.
