For more than 30 years, Ken Sparks has represented and advised townships throughout the State of Michigan, both as general counsel and as special counsel. His areas of township practice include zoning and land use law, special assessments, ordinance adoption and enforcement, sewer and water issues, Freedom of Information Act and Open Meetings Act issues, property taxation and formation of intermunicipal authorities.
He has been actively involved in representing townships in state court and federal court litigation at both trial and appellate levels. He has authored a number of amicus curiae briefs on behalf of the Michigan Townships Association in the Michigan Court of Appeals, the Michigan Supreme Court and the Federal Courts on issues of statewide importance to Michigan townships.

SEMINARS AND EVENTS
- Ken is a frequent lecturer to both township officials and municipal attorneys on topics related to township law. He has lectured at numerous events sponsored by the Michigan Townships Association and other organizations.
- For more than 15 years, Ken has served as the Institute Coordinator for the one-day Legal Institute for Township attorneys conducted each year in connection with the Annual Michigan Townships Association Educational Conference.
